Space Tourism Could  Ozone Layer

Repair The Damaged

Space tourism by

Richard Branson, Elon Musk, and Jeff Bezos could undo the progress made in healing the ozone layer

New research has tested

the impact of spacecraft leaving and returning to Earth on the atmosphere, particularly the upper reaches.

UCL & MIT found that

soot emitted by spacecraft was damaging the protective ozone layer around the planet

And retaining heat

at a rate 500 times higher than other sources of carbon dioxide. soot.

Comparing emissions from

spacecraft with those from aircraft and ground-based sources was, therefore “misguided”.

While damage is small

they suggested people travel to space for tourism purposes to protect against future problems.
